Monday, December 12, 2017 – Passage of FY 2017 Continuing Resolution Appropriations Bill, HR 2028

December 12, 2016

Late last week, both the House and Senate passed a Fiscal Year 2017 Continuing Resolution Appropriations bill that will fund the federal government through April 28, 2017, at last year’s levels.

The bill, H.R. 2028 also contains additional funding for overseas defense operations, disaster relief funding, and funding for water systems, such as Flint, MI.

This means that when Congress convenes in January for the 115th Congress, it will have to address FY 2017 funding before the April deadline.  Until a permanent FY 2017 appropriations bill is passed for Department of Homeland Security, the agency will not know with certainty the level of funding for FAMA and FEMSA priority programs such as Assistance to Firefighters, SAFER, the U.S. Fire Administration and the Urban Search and Rescue programs.

It is now even more important for you to attend 2017 Hill Day, April 5-6, where our priority will now include FY 2017 funding for these important programs, in addition to reauthorization of AFG and SAFER programs.
