Reauthorization of AFG and SAFER Programs in 2017

Last week we sent you the outline of the agreement among the major Fire Service organizations on the reauthorization of the Assistance to Firefighters and SAFER (hiring) grant programs.  We want to thank CFSI for leading this effort, and for bringing all the parties together on this critical piece of legislation.
Below are two sample letters you may use to write your Senators and House Representatives encouraging their support for reauthorization in 2017.  While there is no bill introduced yet, we thought it important to provide you with these sample letters so that you can begin to communicate with your Congressional offices.  Even if you plan to attend 2017 Hill Day, we still encourage you to reach out to your delegations to impress upon them the necessity of reauthorization in 2017.  Please revise the letter to fit your company profile and to change the letters to reflect your company’s role in the fire service.

Given snail mail, we remind everyone that e-mailing your letters is far preferable.
